Next week, Elizabeth and Matthew will teach a swing dancing
lesson.

On Friday, September 8, Ashdown dormitory will host "DANCE
FUSION", a big dance party with (I think) 3 dance floors:
swing, salsa, etc. Anyone want to help DJ the swing floor?
Even if you don't DJ, everyone should come to the party to
dance! It goes from 9PM to 1AM.

MIT Activities Fair, Fri Sept 1 3-6:30pm

Hi everyone,

I am looking for some volunteers to man the Lindy Hop
Society booth at the MIT Student Activities Midway on
Friday, September 1. The check-in and setup time is at 3pm;
the freshmen will start arriving at 4pm 'til 6:30pm. Rif
has volunteered to be at the later part of the fair, we
still need someone for setup and the beginning half (and you
can keep Rif company, too).

It's quite simple: you hand out flyers and let people sign
up for the mailing list. Unfortunately, I'm going out of
town this weekend, so we really need your help!

Swing Dancing 8:30 Kresge Reheasal Room A, No lesson

No lesson this week.

We are in a different location this week than usual: Kresge
Auditorium is the big dome-like building with glass front
that is next to the student center. Rehearsal Room A is
down the center stairs in the basement of Kresge.

There will be no lessons the next few weeks: our next lesson
will be Wednesday, September 6. Elizabeth and Matthew will
teach a swing dancing lesson.

Stay tuned for information about the locations of the dances
the next two weeks.

Swing Dancing Sala, Lesson 7:30pm

There will be a lesson at 7:30 PM before the dance.

Title: Musicality, Connection and Improvisation

Instructors: Gui Cavalcanti and Jenn Martinez

Description: Do you ever feel like you're just going through
the motions of Lindy Hop or Blues and not quite 'getting
it'? Do you sit down when funky songs come on because you
don't know how to dance to them? Are you unsatisfied with
your repertoire of moves, but don't know where you can pick
up new ones?

Have you ever watched the weird over-dressed kid with
slippery white shoes and the tall Goth girl that doesn't
quite seem to be touching the ground dance together and said
to yourself, 'Hey, that was cool, I wonder how they did
that'?

If you answered yes to any of the above or you just want to
improve your social dancing skills, come to Musicality,
Connection and Improvisation with Gui and Jenn Wednesday
night. Don't expect to dance to Benny Goodman; Gorillaz
would probably be a safer bet.

Comfort with Lindy Hop footwork is recommended.
